post trauma
Bayit Cham has raised the gauntlet to play a central role on a national level in doing something about this most painful issue, dealing comprehensively with the scourge of sexual assault. Our activities focus on two parallel and essential areas:
Firstly, treatment. Bayit Cham has established treatment centers for victims of sexual trauma. These centers employ a staff of expert professionals who have undergone extensive training in this specific field of treatment. Due to differences in treatment and interventions, separate centers were established for adults and children:
*The Belibeinu Treatment Center was founded in order to treat boys and girls who have suffered sexual abuse, up to the age of 18.
*The Beyachad Treatment Center was founded in order to treat boys and girls who have suffered sexual abuse, up to the age of 18, who live is settlements and towns with no provisions for local services.
*The Benafsheinu Treatment Center was founded in order to treat women victims of sexual abuse from age 18 and above as well as adult male survivors of child sexual abuse.
The second sphere in which Bayit Cham addresses the issue of sexual abuse is educating the public; dealing with the problem by raising public awareness is no less important than treating the victims.
Bayit Cham views educating the community as central to its mission, especially in light of the fact that many are unaware of the extent of the problem, deny it or ignore it.
Bayit Cham raises public awareness of sexual abuse in our communities by offering conferences, seminars and lectures facilitated by professionals. Many instructional lectures are presented to groups of rabbis, male and female teachers, premarital counselors, chosson-kallah teachers and more.
To date, hundreds of adults and children of all ages have been treated for sexual trauma at Benafsheinu, Belibeinu and Beyachad centers.
