Our Navigate therapists were interviewed on Kol Chai Radio’s popular program, “Yedid Nefesh”, hosted by none other than our director Rabbi Arie Munk. They described Bayit Cham’s important intervention program for people experiencing a first psychotic episode.
Those who turn to us for treatment, rehabilitation or assistance in establishing eligibility for disability benefits often arrive long after the onset of psychosis. Many have already been hospitalized in psychiatric wards and are finally coming to terms with their illness and the crisis it caused. They are filled with anxiety about what awaits them in the future. These are not simple moments; for some people it is quite traumatic. Additionally, this process of “returning to normal life” can take quite a while, amidst confusion and lack of familiarity with the options available to them.
Navigate is a unique program that is available only in a few treatment centers in Israel. As an early intervention program, it can prevent the angst described above because it enables treatment and return to function even during the crisis and at its onset, as soon as the early signs of a psychotic episode are recognized. The young participants as well as their family members and other significant people in their environment receive close, continuous guidance from mental health professionals trained in this method who provide therapy and vocational rehabilitation in order to immediately work on helping clients achieve emotional equilibrium as they process the trauma and return to normal function as quickly as possible.
It is important for us to let you know that if you feel that something is happening inside of you or recognize signs of a mental health crisis in a family member, you are welcome to contact us and we will form the support network ♥ ️
