A national convention of “Navigate” teams in Israel took place recently in Enosh’s Kfar Saba Branch.
“Navigate” is an innovative intervention program for young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis. It combines treatment and rehabilitation from the onset of the crisis and also integrates family and community members. The goal is to provide an intensive response to the young person helping him to process the trauma and return to normative life in the community. This is in contrast to the existing process that usually only provides psychiatric treatment upon the outbreak of psychosis.
There are six centers nationwide that have implemented the Nagivate intervention in their organization, one of them being us, at our Bayit Cham clinic in Bnei Brak. A number of training sessions were held during the past year. Three months ago, our staff began to implement the program and even in this short time, we already witness the positive impact.
The recent national convention helped participants deepen their knowledge and enabled them to share issues, dilemmas, work methods and joint learning. It was exciting to see how enriching the entire experience was for the various teams.
The general atmosphere was clearly one of innovation, optimism and a strong desire to reach and benefit as many youth in crisis as possible…
