Recently, 16 Bayit Cham staff members of the General Disabilities Vocational Rehabilitation Department – social workers, directors and vocational coaches – gathered for a fascinating seminar facilitated by Ms. Michal Haas, Director of Development and Guidance at “Kesher”.
The purpose was to create a group of experts that will guide families of children and adults with special needs. The seminar included lectures and workshops in small groups, facilitated by social workers.
Participants enjoyed an eye-opening exercise in which they were told to view things through the perspective of families of children with disabilities. This led to a lively group discussion of how to really listen, connect, and have a dialogue that comes from a place of respect for the family, its background, its lifestyle, of understanding its concerns and more…
Said one participant, “We were given tools and strategies and we’re prepared for efficient and effective collaboration… It was terrific!
