A ”Good Deeds Day” project in conjunction with Bayit Cham Ashdod’s Transitional Employment program was initiated by Transitional Employment Director Mrs. Dafna Bar-El and Ashdod Employment Coordinator Mr. Avraham Avrotsky in unique collaboration with “Archive 2000, Inc.”, a company that deals with archiving, storing, retrieving and scanning documents.
As part of the cooperative initiative, a group of Bayit Cham clients in rehab who hope to integrate at mainstream jobs arrived at “Archive 2000” on the morning of March 13th. They were warmly greeted by the company’s employees who were assigned to them, showed them the ropes and enabled them to try out various jobs.
Later in the day, a panel discussion was held between the staff and the Bayit Cham visitors about the meaning of work in our lives and the feelings involved in entering the job market.
The activity took place in an atmosphere of brotherly love and partnership, as summarized by Ms. Dafna Bar-El: “Cooperating with Archive 2000 raised the idea of this “Hands-On Day” in which our clients were able to experiment at various work positions under the guidance of the company’s employees. The discussion that ensued helped Bayit Cham clients and Archive 2000 employees connect on a personal level as they spoke about the importance and meaning of work in our lives. It was a very successful, exciting and empowering day for both employees and Bayit Cham clients alike.”
At the end of the day, the employees received certificates of appreciation for their generous efforts and Bayit Cham clients in rehab received a gift from the company’s administration.
