Navigate is an advanced, unique intervention program that is offered in a select few clinics in Israel. One of them is Bayit Cham. The program combines treatment and rehabilitation for young adults experiencing a first psychotic episode. Patients and their families are intensively supported and guided by a closely-coordinated group of professionals in order to enable them to overcome the crisis quickly and return to normal life; we have witnessed the impressive results❤️
This year three patients got married and one of them even had a first baby!! Beyond that, some people have begun academic studies, National Service or returned to dating for marriage. Our hearts are bursting with pride and nachas 😍
The program in Israel, led by Prof. David Roeh, began with extensive staff training and continued to develop slowly but surely. This year, many upgrades were introduced, including digital tools that facilitate cognitive work, self-soothing, knowledge accessibility and more, enabling patients to work on them independently at home, between appointments. Also, the treatment has become hybrid (both frontal and via Zoom) which allows for maximum flexibility and adaptation to the needs of our patients.
A conclusion we have reached after three years of activity: a psychotic crisis is not an easy nor pleasant experience for the patient or his/her family members, but many times it serves as an important inner voice that gives the person an opportunity to check what can be done to stop walking around feeling foggy and disconnected from the world. With the Navigate program, the person emerges from the crisis clearer and better adjusted❤️.
